The Top Publishing Company

Welcome to the world of publishing literature, music and art! When going through the process of writing my first book that captured the journey through stage 4 cancer as I barely began to transition into adulthood, The Top Publishing Company was formed in partnership with my eldest brother in order to be at the source of the books path to success and financial future.

Going forward, this venture is shared with all 6 siblings and our mother as the beginning of a legacy in documenting our own history as well as being a pilar in the black diaspora for documenting black history as a whole.

Speaking Engagements

Being one of the victorious and fortunate individuals on the other side of a relentless encounter with stage 4 cancer, I was humbled by the power of positivity and peace that took over my life in the journey of facing my mortality through cancer.

With a new found fire inside, I aim to share this gift of peace and positivity that kept me grounded in the game of life. Join me on this farfetched mission to cover the world with a strong and silent fire of peace and positivity.

Place of Peace Cancer Foundation

I will never forget the experience of being diagnosed with cancer and the crazy amount of willpower it took to continue treatments. I will also never forget the amount relief that rushed my body when I was diagnosed ‘cancer free’.

It would be naive and unrealistic of me to expect that everyone diagnosed with any degree and/or stage of cancer will come out on the other side as fortunate as I am today. The constant boost of positivity and peace I received during my cancer journey made a major difference. Now, I aim to make a similar impact paying that peace and positivity forward for those impacted by cancer. Click ‘Explore’ to engage and support this spark of potential for individuals confronted with the devastation of cancer.

The Company We Keep

Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc.

Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity was founded at Howard University in Washington, D.C., January 9, 1914, by three young African-American male students. As a proud Sigma brother, I embody the same values of “Culture For Service and Service For Humanity” as well as promoting brotherhood, scholarship and service in the community. As a lifelong partnership is forged when joining Phi Beta Sigma, I celebrate the promise of this partnership of conscious men.

Sims Fayola Foundation

Established in 2014 as a 501(c)(3), the Sims-Fayola Foundation is on a mission to redefine the narrative for young men and boys of color. Fearlessly taking on the challenge, we confront the educational and societal obstacles that impede their life outcomes. Through innovative programming, awareness campaigns, and strategic partnerships with community foundations, organizations, schools, and districts, we tackle these persistently stubborn issues. Our commitment revolves around providing direction, education, guidance, resources, direct support, and, ultimately, tangible relief.

University of Northern Colorado

Majoring in Communication Studies with a double minor in Business Administration and Sports Coaching, I graduated from UNC Greeley in May of 2021. In my time at the university since 2015, I have also held the title of Athletic Communications Intern and have actively engaged in all UNC sporting events. Though the end of this chapter is near, I am looking forward to the possibility of future partnership with my alma mater.

Community Involvement

Giving back to the community means everything to me and is at the core of who I am and how I operate as a human. All of my offerings are centered inside of my service to the world , in big ways and the small which seemingly tend to make the most difference in contrast. Displayed above, you see some of the ways I choose to be active in the community. Below are a few more highlights.

Coach At Redline Athletics

As a coach of young athletes, it’s not just about developing their athletic skills, but also their character. At Redline Athletics, that character development is key to helping young athletes become responsible, successful adults. We work with young athletes to develop crucial character traits such as courage, attitude, effort, integrity, perseverance, sacrifice, coachability, leadership, composure, and compassion. These traits are not only important for becoming a successful athlete but also for becoming a successful person in all areas of life.

Knowledge Through Wisdom

Knowledge Through Wisdom (KTW) is a program I created and built out while on staff at The Boys & Girls Club. To put it shortly, we have all heard the phrase knowledge is power, yet what good is all that power if you can’t manage to store it effectively? Wisdom, on the other hand, is a filter that we listen through, not something we come to possess. The marriage of the two brings to light the power of listening.

‘The quieter you become, the more you can hear.’ -Rumi

Distinguished Black Men

Distinguished Black Men (DBM) is a new brand culture created in partnership with my brother(Alexander X. Garland), in response to our sister’s (Shaherazaad LuQman) new brand culture and brain child, Black Woman Ambition (BWA). Both brand cultures magnetize black history icons from the past through present day to ignite a new generation of black excellence by design, fueled by ancestry and rejuvenated by our tomorrows future.
